Young people are one of Dumfries and Galloways greatest assets and for Scotlands Year of Young People, we have co-designed an aspirational plan for Dumfries and Galloway.

Young people are one of our Councils key priorities and it is important that we continue to invest in our young people to support them to become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

This plan shows the confidence that national organisations have in Dumfries and Galloway to host national and international events for young people.   Our signature events programme for 2018 will be one of the largest in Scotland and shows the ambition we have for our region.

We are particularly pleased that the Scottish Government has acknowledged the Youth Beatz Festival including The Toon as a unique celebration of youth culture and the positive outcomes it meets for young people, and warmly welcome the opportunity for Youth Beatz to become one of the national Signature events for Scotlands Year of Young People, and we look forward to welcoming thousands of young people from across Scotland to Dumfries and Galloway.

We hope everyone can join us at the experiences and events throughout 2018.

Scotlands year of young people gives us the opportunity to celebrate our young people in Dumfries and Galloway and show them that they are an important part of our community by celebrating all that is great about young people.

This year long plan of activities, experiences and events  for Dumfries and Galloway will give us all something to celebrate about young people.  As our Councils Young Peoples  and Events Champion, this plan brings together what is best about our young people in Dumfries and Galloway.

Through the hosting of a number of national and international events in 2018, we have a real opportunity to showcase our region to young people across Scotland and further afield.
